Early Spring 2009

Spring has come a bit late this year but the daffodils are now blooming... a sure sign Spring is here!
The kids have been fishing with Tim on the weekends...here they are with their catch on opening day.

Spring also means soccer restarts. Here are the "Crimson Dragons"

Just a little bit of snow is left on the mountains now.

Easter 2009

So Easter 2009 started off well... the kids dyed eggs on Saturday and went to an egg hunt in my Mom's neighborhood. Sunday morning we were trying to decide how to spend the day when Carson fell and hit his head on the office desk. So we made a trip to the ER for our Easter!
Here he is getting checked in. He was in a pretty good mood for someone with a 2 inch gash in his head!

Waiting to see the Doctor. They put some topical pain medicine on the cut first, bandaged it up,

And then put 5 staples in to hold it together.

All done!

Easter 2009 cont'd.

After the ER incident we went to Memaw's for Easter dinner and an inside egg hunt (it was raining). Here they are ready to find eggs...
And they're off!!

Spring Break trip to Virginia and Washington, DC

My Mom and I took the kids and went to Virginia and Washington DC for Spring Break this year. It was a great trip back to where I am from and here is our whole trip documented. Make sure to look at the older posts to see the entire trip (too many pics!). Enjoy!

Our first day in Virginia included a little sight-seeing in Fredericksburg. That's Avery and Memaw outside Mary Washington's house (George's Mother) with the original sundial. It kept threatening to rain but we were just happy to be in a place without snow!
Waiting for lunch... the restaurant we went to had a separate room just for non-smoking. The kids were surprised by this, as they live in a state that doesn't allow smoking in restaurants.

Outside Mary's house again...

Richmond Visit with Old Friends

In Richmond we met up with good friends/college buddies plus their kids. That's Faith with Cole and Julianna, Jessica with Ella (and baby #2 inside), and Melissa with Walker.

All 4 of us, plus Walker who snuck into the picture!

Ella enjoying her dinner.

Walker having some dessert.

The 4 big kids wanted their own table.

Richmond, VA

We stayed at my good friend Faith's house for a few nights in Richmond. We have known each other since we were 4, and this was the first time seeing each other in 4 years. All the kids had a great time together. Here they are after swimming at the neighborhood pool. Carson and Cole ready for dinner.

Avery and Julianna.

Carson and his new buddy, Rob (Faith's hubby). Here the two are playing Transformers.

Yorktown, VA part 1

We headed to Yorktown next to see the beach and the battlefields. Here are the kids outside the Watermen's Museum, where Tim and I had our wedding reception.
Checking out the water.

New statues and buildings have appeared in the years since I visited Yorktown Beach.

The kids LOVED Yorktown and thought it was great that I grew up there. That's them on the Yorktown Monument.

Yorktown, VA part 2

At the Yorktown Battlefield Visitors Center on the same cannons Paul and I climbed on when we were young.

Sitting on the Monument

We drove past my old house. Avery didn't remember it at all from our previous trip 4 years before. There are a lot less trees and a lot more grass than I remember!

National Zoo

Uncle Paul and I took the kids to the National Zoo on a beautiful spring day in Washington, DC. We met my college friends Cathy and Bobby and their 2 kids, Cameron and Carly for the day. The kids had a great time checking out the Zoo with their new friends.

Uncle Paul and Aunt Lisa's House

We stayed at my brother's house for 2 nights in Northern VA. The kids thought his house was so cool because of all the toys and fun things to play with. Here's the kids with Uncle Paul and Aunt Lisa.
The kids and I were so excited to play Rock Band! Carson thought it was way too hard so only made it through one song.

Natural History Museum

On a rainy Monday we headed into DC again, this time to the Natural History Museum and to see the Monuments. Faith & Rob and their kids came up from Richmond for the day to join us and Cathy & Bobby and their kids. The Museum was very crowded but the kids had a great time anyway.
The kids checking out the exhibits.

The boys loved the dinosaur bones.

That's Bobby pretending to feed Carly to the dinosaur.
